We all know about ants - they’re the top source of issues that cause customers to call us for services. The most common types of ants we see here in town are: odorous house ants, little black ants, carpenter ants, and fire ants.

Our ant control strategies are designed to get ants at the source: their colony. Whenever there is an ant concern, our technicians are trained to do a thorough inspection in order to try to find the source of the infestation. If we can locate the colony, we will be able to eliminate the ant issue. When we cannot locate the colony, we can use products such as ant baits to try to solve the problem.

Generally speaking, we deal with two types of cockroaches here: American and German. The best way to think about the differences between these two are: American cockroaches are good (in the sense that they’re easy to get rid of) and German cockroaches are bad (because they’re very hard to get rid of.

Is a termite treatment right for me?

Generally we recommend treatment in a few different scenarios:

1. You have active termites

How do I know if I have termites?

You see them! Termites are difficult to identify because they live underground and enter your house in unsuspecting places such as plumbing penetrations and along your foundation. You may have termites in and around your home and not know it until several years later.

The vast majority of pest control companies offer free inspections. So call around to some companies and have a professional come take a look.

What are my options in terms of termite treatments?

There are two types of termite treatments: liquid treatment and a bait station treatment.

Liquid treatments are when the termite company digs a trench around the entire perimeter of your home and fills it with 100-200 gallons of termiticide. It’s akin to protecting a castle with a moat.

Bait station treatments are when the termite company installs termite bait stations every 10-20 feet around the perimeter of the home. The most common brands are Trelona and Sentricon. As a company, we exclusively use Sentricon.

How much should a termite treatment cost?

The cost of a termite treatment will range from about $600 up to $1,500 for an average sized house here in DFW. The lower end of that range will likely be for a bait station treatment and the upper range will be for a liquid termite treatment.

Mosquitoes are a huge pain in the you-know-what here in Texas. They love heat and humidity, which we have in spades here in North Richland Hills and the rest of the Mid-Cities area. A lot of us and our neighbors do a great job watering our yard and keeping beautiful yards. These things are conducive conditions for mosquitoes and help make some great living conditions for them.

Will it work?

Yes. It will help. It typically won’t be a cure all, though. So much depends on the weather and what your neighbors are, or are not, doing to treat mosquitoes. I typically like to tell people that on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being you’ll never see a mosquito again, the treatment usually delivers a 7 or 8 on average.
